Housing crisis averted. Saturday, I went with that girl to take a look at this apartment right down the street from my friend. It is gorgeous!! It’s the first level of a multi-family. The owner lives on the 2nd floor. All hardwood flooring, tons of windows, fully redone. The windows are all brand new energy efficient windows that pop in to clean. Technically, it’s a two bedroom with one average sized bedroom and a smaller one. However, she’s converted the dining room into another larger bedroom.

Roommate (who will gain a new name as I get to know her more) will take the dining room as her bedroom. It’s pretty cool because it has a built-in hutch with drawers. She likes this because it can be used as a bureau. I’m a little jealous that she has claimed this room.

However, it is good because I will have the larger of the real bedrooms. In that, there are 2 very decent sized closets. Yay! Also, the smaller bedroom will be my office/guest room. It’s a strange sized room. I am *hoping* that my full-size bed fits. There is another very good sized closet in there with a built in bureau.

The bathroom is completely redone, as is the kitchen. The kitchen has brand new never used appliances including a dishwasher. The one weird thing about the kitchen is that there are no top cabinets, just bottom ones. So, we’re having Landlord put up a heavy duty shelf that we can put all of our plates etc on. There is a pantry off of the kitchen where we can put all of our food stuff. Also, Landlord is going to run water into the pantry and we’re going to buy a cheap used W/D set. There is a long hallway that leads from the from of the apartment to the back (the kitchen). Off of the hall are another 2 HUGE closets. The living room is the first room in the apartment you can see and it’s a good size as well.

The neighborhood is safe and, as mentioned, I will be right down the street from my good friend. Parking is on street but it is not a busy street and there is always available parking. We are a block or two from a T station which is good in case I don’t feel like driving into town. You can get a cab real quick as well.

There are a few “best parts” to this:

1. I have a home!!!

2. I will be paying HALF of what I pay right now!!

3. I WILL BE IN BOSTON!!!!

I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am that this is all resolved! Tomorrow night I’m going to give Landlord our checks for 1 month’s rent. Our official lease date is May 1 but Landlord has stated that it would be ok if we are in a few days earlier. Also, she’s giving me keys tomorrow to allow us to move things in slowly if we want. Yay!!
