I can finally see the light!! Only a few more days and this exam is behind me (again) and hopefully for good this time! I have to say that I am seriously depleted in the motivation department. There are just so many other things I would far rather be doing than sitting locked up in my condo taking practice tests and trying to memorize all of this nonsense. Sadly, I have not been as intense about the studying as I would have liked. However, I do think I went about studying in a manner which suits me better this time.
Since the dawn of my educational life I have hated studying. Funny, since I went through 21 years of formal schooling. One would assume that you have to LIKE studying to get through law school. I found it much like college and high school though. While it was slightly more intense and difficult, I just had to do a certain level of studying in order to get through it. And, obviously, I could have done much better had I applied myself, but that’s been my downfall in regards to school since the 1st grade. I have always been a far better employee/worker than I am a student. I find the actual doing of something to be better than the studying of something, if that makes any sense.
So the exam is Wednesday and Thursday of this coming week. I’ve gotten some help from outlines I purchased online because, well, I am HORRIBLE at outlining. I realized after the first exam that I should have done what I did in law school – get outlines from someone who has already “taken the class” basically. So, I did. They’ve been a ton of help. I find myself processing everything better and not focusing on the minutiae of spacing and font size etc. Also, the lovely CA bar taker from the Irrational Basis Blog created some phenomenal black letter law poems which have definitely helped me a ton! (Thanks!!!)
I’m glad that I took time off of work. Not only am I catching up on the ridiculous amounts of sleep I’ve lost thanks to working crazy hours, but I’ve had more time to study in a less hurried manner than last time. Also, I have been HATING work with a fiery passion so the time away has been good in that sense. I will be actively pursuing other jobs the week following the exam. And, by other jobs, I mean legal jobs.
As for everything else, things are great. The man is good. We’ve almost been dating for 2 months and I find myself liking him more every time I see him. It’s a good situation and I’m happy. AT and I are being friends but that’s it. And I’m looking for a new place to live! There’s a possibility that my lovely teacher friend may buy a place closer to Boston and I’ll be her roomie! I hope that happens because it would be PERFECT.
Now, for your reading pleasure… for those of you who are just as intrigued by sports law as I am, here’s a tasty treat. 38 plaintiffs (athletes and players) have filed suit against Duke University, the City of Durham, NC and numerous other defendants for the BS that occurred during the rape investigation. The plaintiffs’ have hired Bob Bork, Jr. as their publicist for the case and he has started a blog. There is some good info and clips of press conferences from the last couple of days. Also, the complaint is posted on the blog. It was filed Thursday the 21st. The complaint itself is over 200 pages long, so it has been broken into 6 pdf files. It’s pretty good and interesting reading. I see a book coming out after this trial goes down! Enjoy!
